Designtour Barcelona

The smart ebike design tour went out with a bang in Barcelona. Following on from sunny and successful stop-offs in Cologne and Vienna, the tour finished in the picturesque Spanish city just in time for the Barcelona Design Week, an international event which gathered companies, designers, entrepreneurs and other agents from the field of business, innovation and the creative industries, which was organized by BCD Barcelona Design Centre.

In cooperation with BCD, the mobility experts of smart offered visitors of the Barcelona Design Week the possibility to delve deeper into the electric and eclectic design scene of the capital city of Catalonia in Spain from June 2nd to June 6th. Locals and visitors alike were treated to guided tours of select art and design hot spots across Barcelona – and 100 agile aesthetes took part!

Situated at the Design Hub Barcelona, the smart ebike station quickly became an attraction in itself; tours on a bona fide design classic in its own right – the smart ebike – were fully booked after just one day.

Two different tours explored eight select spots throughout the sunny city. Covering around 10 to 15 kilometers, each of the design treasure trails took around 2 hours to complete and showed the cyclists a different side to Barcelona. Safe in the saddle of the smart ebike, the participants were left with lasting impressions and a know-how of Barcelona’s art and design hot spots.

The tours included exciting sites such as Encants Market, one of the oldest markets in Europe, and Miba, Barcelona’s ideas and inventions museum – the world’s first museum of its kind. A cycle along the city’s beautiful beach was also part of the tour.

The participants were delighted to take part in this one-of-a-kind experience and all agreed that the true star of the tours was the smart ebike itself – what an incredible design piece! Overall more than 270 people took part in a quick test ride, commending its unique ride and handling, and many more gushing about the great design bicycle.

Bea Salas of Barcelona-based lifestyle magazine lamono saddled up to report on the tours for bettery magazine, so do keep your eyes peeled to find out about her impressions and thoughts, they will be published here over the next few days.
