Urban farming is an increasingly important part of sustaining our future and taking control of what and how we eat. It is getting more and more difficult, especially in urban environments to obtain real fresh organic food.
To motivate ourselves to carry through with this, it would be interesting to take part in the ongoing experiment about how and what specific music can help your plants grow. Maybe a new kind of music will be discovered and developed that directly links to the growth of urban gardens.
Peaches asks: What sounds will you create or play to help your urban farm grow?
Yuji Hamada answers: “Plants might listen the sounds that we cannot listen.” This idea comes from my experience. When I closed my eyes under the sun, I still felt the sunlight before my eyes. I felt Sunlight is an essential element them to grow. Since then, I decided not to use any artificial lights and photograph the invisible light in our everyday life.
By capturing the outside world on film, the ordinary life becomes something extraordinary, thus giving me a chance to find the line between fantasy and reality.
